I was born in the early morning of January 22nd, making me an Aquarius, otherwise known as “The Water Bearer.” Aquarians are the independent weirdos of the world, often creative and quite unique. Nothing can hold us down, and we’re a little stubborn if we can’t follow our own instincts. Granted, this makes dating somewhat interesting. If you think you’re up to dating an Aquarius, here’s what you should know going into it, because preparation is key.
- We’re a little unpredictable and sometimes moody. We have an idea in our head, but often don’t know the best way to communicate it. While this definitely makes our dating life pretty interesting, the guy who chooses to combat these hurdles will later realize that our intentions are always good, our goal is never to offend anyone, and we know we’re fickle and don’t like it, either. Aquarius women typically don’t adhere to a “to-do” list — we just let ideas float in our brains, and trust ourselves to organize our thoughts naturally. So while we might seem flighty at times, we’re truly smart women with a muddled mental itinerary.
- We need to fully trust you before we open up. Aquarians love to listen to other people’s problems and offer advice, but they often fear looking vulnerable in front of their own boyfriends. While we have a lot of friends, we’re often the “mentor” in the group, especially since we’re able to relate to almost everyone. When it comes to our own lives, we find it difficult to be “open books,” especially in a new relationship. Some men might find this a little strange, but others find it intriguing. We like having our secrets, since we know that the ultimate trust lies within ourselves.
- We have an “it’s complicated” relationship with money. While we don’t mind a guy paying for dinner every once in a while, we do have trouble splitting a tab within a large group — especially if we only ordered a caesar salad and a diet coke and suddenly have to cover for someone else’s chardonnay. When out with a brand new date, we’re fully prepared to cover our own meals, since we don’t naturally expect someone to treat when we’re capable of buying it ourselves. Aquarians are fiercely independent, and things like joint bank accounts and even marriage might take some time for us to process.
- We understand and deeply appreciate the concept of “me time.” Even though Aquarian women love spending time with those they care about, they also love the opportunity to have a day off from socialization and that includes time away from our boyfriends. We’re totally fine spending a Friday staying in, and don’t need a weekly (or monthly) date night to be happy in a relationship. In short, we’re totally fine with a guy who backs off every once in a while.
- We prefer a sentimental homemade gift over expensive jewelry. When it’s time to get gifts, an Aquarius girl would totally love a thoughtful mixed CD over a tacky bracelet, unless the bracelet had something of personal meaning engraved. Thus, we won’t break any banks when in a relationship. We typically prefer considerate gifts over flashy ones, which some men might have a hard time understanding — especially if it’s their first relationship with an Aquarian.
- Creativity is big for us. We’re typically always creating something, and even if we date someone and it’s a dud, we’d prefer to channel the experience into creating a new character in a screenplay or a novel, instead of sitting around and lament about our bad luck with men.
- We hate getting into fights. I know, I know — everyone hates getting into fights. But in general, we’re non-confrontational, and don’t thrive on drama. We also know that sometimes we have a tendency of saying things we don’t mean, unaware of the impact our words have. We communicate best in writing, as a way to get our thoughts and solutions out in a way that’s less emotionally charged.
- We always see the best in people. Even though we can occasionally be judgmental, we always give people a fair chance when we get to meet them. We’re open to dating all types of different men, and typically love meeting others who march to the beat of their own drum. We always give others the benefit of the doubt, unless they’ve severely hurt us in the past. As mentioned, trust is tough to earn with us, so guys who broke our heart with a horrible breakup typically won’t get a second chance.
